Elisir d’amor

Το ελιξήριο του έρωτα μπορεί να είναι και ένα κρασάκι Μπορντώ!
Εκπληκτική παράσταση με πολύ χιούμορ και πολύ καλούς συνετλεστές.

A delightful evening of charm and good humour arrives with The Royal Opera ’s revival of L’elisir d’amore, whose moral seems to be that a glass of red wine is indeed good for the heart! Revived for the first time, the lively production sets the story in a contemporary Italian village – complete with Vespas and stray dog – where the charlatan salesman Dr Dulcamara passes off some wine as a love potion to the naive and nervous Nemorino. Will this help Nemorino woo the wealthy Adina away from dashing Sergeant Belcore? It will certainly be fun finding out.
Through all the merry twists of the plot, Donizetti’s music has wonderful ensembles, coloratura vocal fireworks and a wealth of tuneful melodies – the soulful ‘Una furtiva lagrima’ is just one of its familiar hits – and an especially fine cast comes together to make the most of the occasion. Indeed, the seductive lyric tenor of Giuseppe Filianoti and the brilliant and engaging soprano of Diana Damrau as the lyric couple are right at the heart of the fun and games. Donizetti’s music, star casting and a witty staging by Laurent Pelly make this a revival packed with sunny, southern enjoyment.
